Deadline for book entries: 21 January 2013
Deadline for short prose entries: 31 March 2013
Xlibris authors are invited to take part in the 2013 Eric Hoffer Award for Short Prose and Books. This awards program was established in honour of the great American philosopher Eric Hoffer and to highlight the best independent writing.
Authors may choose to participate in two awards programs. The book awards program is open to self-published books released or copyrighted in the last two years. Books released more than two years from its copyright date may enter the Legacy Fiction or Legacy Nonfiction category. Authors may enter more than one category, albeit with separate book registrations (including separate book copies, nomination forms, and additional registration fees).
Entries in the short prose program (fiction and creative nonfiction) must be less than 10,000 words. They must be previously unpublished or published with a circulation of less than 500. If the work was published online, please do not submit it.
Prizes include a $2,000 award for best independent book and a $250 award for short prose, as well as the chance to win other honors including the Montaigne Medal, the da Vinci Eye, and the First Horizon Award. The winning short prose will be published in the annual Best New Writing anthology, and the book awards will be covered in the US Review of Books. Deadline for book entries is on January 21, 2013, while the deadline for short prose entries is on March 31, 2013.
