Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA)
Appoints New Executive Director
The Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) has selected Angela Bole, current Deputy Executive Director of the Book Industry Study Group, as the association’s next Executive Director, replacing Florrie Binford Kichler who will retire from IBPA in June. Terry Nathan will continue in his position as Chief Operating Officer of IBPA.
“IBPA has been uniquely positioned as the heart and soul of independent publishing for 30 years,” said Angela Bole. “Being extremely passionate about books and storytelling in all possible genres and formats, I knew right away IBPA was the perfect fit. It’s a community center, a support network, an education hub, and proof that it’s possible to do together what it’s impossible to do alone.”
She also noted, “I have valued and learned enormously from my time at BISG and would like to thank the BISG Board and staff for their kind support over the years.
Angela Bole has been Deputy Executive Director of the Book Industry Study Group, Inc. (BISG) since March 2009, having previously served two years as Associate Director and two years as Marketing and Communications Manager. Angela has English Literature and Gender Studies degrees from Indiana University Bloomington and a Masters Degree in Book Publishing from New York University. She is an active member of the Women’s Media Group, a New York-based nonprofit association of women who have achieved prominence in the many fields of media. She also serves as Treasurer on the International Digital Publishing Forum’s (IDPF’s) Board of Directors.
Notes IBPA Board Chair Steve Mettee, “I couldn’t be more thrilled with the outcome of IBPA’s executive director search. Angela’s unique combination of intelligence, experience, skills, and energy is sure to help propel IBPA’s 30 years of success into decades more.”
“Angela Bole is an excellent choice to lead IBPA into the future,” remarks IBPA COO Terry Nathan, ” I am excited to work with her and look forward to the energy and ideas she will bring. I will miss working with Florrie Binford Kichler, and wish her well as she begins a new chapter.”
Bole will assume her position at IBPA as of July 17 and will be based in New York.
